Cute Little Kindle Commercials

So, I don't really like the idea of e-readers, but I do love these Kindle commercials.

Jeffrey Campbell Love

So I'm not really one for big expensive purchases. I bought myself boots this year and that was a struggle to spend $70 and I've never spent more than $40 on a bag...and usually I spend less. This usually means that I spend more money on multiple cheap things, sometimes things that don't last very long. So in an attempt to invest in more quality merchandise, and to indulge in my love love love for Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I purchased these. At $70 off it was hard to say no.

I got them two days ago, and I have been seriously considering returning them. Not because they don't look great, but just because they felt a little loose, and just are way different than anything else I own. But after wearing them around the house and trying them on with every article of clothing in my closet, I'm committing.

It's just a little touch of fate. It'll be ok.

So, why can't the winners of American Idol be as awesome as Lisa Mitchell, a former contestant on Australian Idol. And the fact that she is only 19 just makes me insane. I know I already posted her "Coin Laundry" video...but I also love this one.

I Killed the Monster (Midnight Music Musings)

The Daniel Johnston tribute album "I Killed the Monster" was released in 2006, and while many of the covers are of note, it's the Daniel Smith and Sufjan Stevens rendition of "Worried Shoes" that always keeps me coming back. I couldn't track down a video for it, but you can give it a listen over here. In addition to being an awesome song, I just love how much the voice of the wacky Daniel Smith just works perfectly. There is also a moment in the Danielson Famile documentary where Daniel and Daniel meet, that is just great.

I took my lucky break and I broke it in two
Put on my worried shoes
My worried shoes
And my shoes took me so many miles and they never wore out
My worried shoes

I made a mistake and I never forgot
I tied knots in the laces of
My worried shoes
And with every step that I'd take I'd remember my mistake
As I marched further and further away
In my worried shoes

And my shoes took me down a crooked path
Away from all welcome mats
My worried shoes
And then one day I looked around and I found the sun shining down
And I took off my worried shoes
And my feet broke free to breath the air
I didn't need to wear
Then I knew the difference between worrying and caring
'Cause I've got a lot of walking to do
And I don't want to wear
My worried shoes

More recently, this song was covered by the lovely Karen O. for the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack. love it.

And of course, the original can be found here.

Checking Out the World Outside

Scotch was examining the raining outdoors this morning in the kitchen. I think she's almost starting to lose the memory of her days as an outdoor kitty. She was a lot skinnier then.

A Little (Pre-)Spring Shopping

Last weekend Ashley and I ventured to Short Pump and Carytown and I was lucky enough to snag this great springy dress from Need Supply Co. I'm dying for my leggings to arrive so it can get some use...and the sun actually coming out would also help...

I may have also stood by while Ashley purchased this. Girl is bold.

Alice

I am insanely excited that Alice in Wonderland comes out on Friday, and not just because my brother worked on it (meaning I am requiring everyone I know to attend a screening with me), but because it just looks incredibly amazing.

One unfortunate comment, however, is that avril lavigne and the Plain White T's are on the alice soundtrack. That doesn't really make sense.
