New York + Muji Fun

Just got back from New York, and while the trip was pretty short, it was quite enjoyable. I didn't gt to do much shopping, but I made it into Muji, my first time to physically visit a Muji store, and of course I love it. I got a ton of their fabulous pens, and a lot of these great cotton tote bags to decorate any number of ways.

Dream Office/Studio

So I'm beginning to look at apartments for August. This has me feeling like I did not exactly take advantage of the "green room," our extra little bedroom in our house / storage room and sewing room. In turn, that has me thinking about my dream office/studio work space.

Today, on design*sponge, there was a sneak peek of caroline gomez's home and studio, and i love her work space, even though it is just an area of her living room she curtained off. Love it.

I definitely need a better work table that can sit at the center of my room. The teeny space on my desk that's not being consumed by my computer really isn't cutting it.

I, of course, kind of want this

Something's Hiding in Here made a bunch of totes using the phrases from their "Your Message Here" installation at Fred Flare in Brooklyn. So cute. I wanted "Edward Cullen, will you marry me?" but it was already sold. Hilarious.

I got a lovely assortment of presents this year for my birthday, and some especially lovely ones from jessica. She is a skilled gift-giver, and I can only aspire to be as dead on as her when picking out gifts for others.

My first real linocut

So today i made my first real linocut using the title of a Camera Obscura song.
I think I am likely to get VERY hooked on this.

It's pretty rough, but I will take it as a successful first go. Now i just have to decide what to print it on.

Speaking of Monograms

The multi-material letters from Trapholt got me in the mood for monograms, and when I went to Anthropologie and Urban yesterday, i was loving all the monogram stuff they had this time around.

Been Diggin'

I've been digging through tons of old photographs and sketches lately, and I recovered this photo of gin that I absolutely love. That was such a great day.

Green Thumb

So, I've never been ANY good with plants. I've tried a few teeny indoor plants in the past and they always die. Always. But lately I have been trying my hand at plants again. It all started with Jessica and Suz gave me some plants for christmas. A little terrarium with a succulent and a bunch of paperwhite bulbs. The paperwhites bloomed and were lovely, and so far I have kept the succulent alive.

I've recently taken on some tulips, and we planted some veggies in the back yard. These are what really concern me. Sigh. I'm afraid that insects or animals are just going to nibble them away.

Anyways, I would really like to have more plants. Maybe a little terrarium by madebymavis
